IIT Kanpur fails to execute marksheet promise

News: 29-May-2011

Initially, IIT Kanpur had promised that it will release marks scored by candidates, irrespective of the fact if the aspirant had qualified or not, on the day the IIT-JEE results were to be declared.

However, it seems that IIT-Kanpur has failed to keep its promise. On the day JEE results were declared, students got to know the overall cut off and subject-wise cut offs only. However, they did not get to know their individual scores in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Those who have cracked the IIT JEE only came to know their ranks. The unsuccessful had no clue about their marks.

It seems that IIT JEE's Joint Admission Board has not adhered to the reforms it had promised to bring in more transparency in JEE results. Despite promising that marks in each subject of all candidates would be available in a few days, IIT Kanpur seems to have forgotten its promise. The Joint Admission Board has also said that answer keys would be available within 48 hours of JEE, but it took more than a month for them to display it in public domain.

IIT aspirants, who compete to get a seat in prestigious IITs, were very pleased when the JEE authorities has announced that they will get to see scanned copies of their answer sheets. But it seems that IIT Kanpur has now said that the answer sheets would be made public after May 25, but no specific date has been given.
